The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) gives meal reimbursements to eligible child care and adult care providers for serving nutritious meals and snacks as a part of their program.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The program is available to public and private nonprofit organizations providing licensed or registered non-residential day care services. Such organizations include Child Care Centers, Head Start Centers, Child Care Homes, At-Risk Afterschool Programs, Outside School Hours Care Centers, Emergency Shelters, Adult Care Centers and organizations providing day care services for children with disabilities and/or special health care needs. Also, private for profit centers may qualify if at least 25 percent of the children in care (enrollment or licensed capacity, whichever is less) are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. For-profit adult day care organizations are eligible to participate in CACFP if they receive compensation under Title XIX (Medicaid Program) and/or Title XX (Block Grants to States for Social Services) of the Social Security Act and at least 25 percent of enrolled participants receive Title XIX of Title XX benefits.
